The whole30 diet is super popular these days and it can really give you a nice boost and reset the way you eat. When I start making bad choices food-wise, I know it’s time for another whole30 reset. I find I have more energy and don’t even crave unhealthy foods and sugars. But…whole30 coffee leaves much to be desired. I look forward to my morning cup of coffee so much. It literally helps me get out of bed in the morning knowing I get to sip that hot beverage from heaven 😉
However, I am not a black coffee drinker. I am not a coffee with soy milk drinker, or a coffee with almond milk drinker. I like my cream and I like my coconut sugar or honey.
But over the years I have discovered a few things that help make whole30 coffee really good. Including the most delicious whole30 approved coffee creamer recipe that I am sharing with you today, but before we get into the recipe, let’s talk about a few ways you make your coffee taste even better…whole30 or not!
Quality Coffee
First, you must start with good coffee. For me, that means organic, fair trade and as freshly roasted as you can find. This will give you the absolute best flavor and as a bonus, you are supporting coffee growers who use their land responsibly without pesticides or unfairly paid workers.
Whole Beans
You definitely want to buy whole beans and grind them in a coffee grinder. It doesn’t take that much extra time and the difference in flavor is huge. Ground coffee has a stale flavor and doesn’t give you the smoothness that freshly ground coffee gives. Once you switch to grinding your coffee beans, you will only wish you had done it sooner.
Brew Method
In our house, we brew our coffee with a french press. It’s our preferred method of brewing because it gives us the best tasting coffee. I know a lot of people who like to do pour over coffee and that also gives you a great flavor. Either one of these options are great.
Add Ins
This whole30 coffee creamer recipe is seriously all you will need to add to your steaming hot cup of coffee. My recipe is creamy, frothy and delicious. It uses simple ingredients that you can easily get your hands on and you won’t miss your sugar or dairy creamer.
How To Make French Press Coffee
In case you are new to the french press coffee scene, here is how we make our coffee every morning:
- 6 Tbsp Freshly Ground Coffee
- 3 1/4 Cups of Filtered Water boiled and slightly cooled
- Brew for 3 minutes and 30 seconds
The Best Whole30 Approved Coffee Creamer Recipe
- 3 Pitted Medjool Dates -soak in water for 10 minutes
- 1 Can Organic Coconut Milk
- 1/4 Cup Organic Unsweetened Nut Milk of Choice(I use organic soy, for whole30 use almond)
- 1/2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract(for whole30 use vanilla bean instead)
Take 3 dates with pits removed and put them in a bowl of cold water to soak. Meanwhile, in a saucepan on medium heat add a can of coconut milk, nut milk(unsweet!!) and vanilla extract. Whisk together until the mixture is well combined and there are no more coconut milk chunks, about 5 minutes. Once your dates have soaked for 10 minutes, add your warmed milk mixture and dates to the blender with a 1/4 cup of the water the dates were soaking in. Blend on high speed until there are no more date clumps. Strain into glass, air-tight container and store in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.

Whole30 Creamer Variations
If you enjoy the flavor of cinnamon, that would make a great addition to the creamer. If you want extra vanilla flavor you could put a half or whole vanilla bean in the jar with the creamer and let it flavor the whole jar…mmm!
I hope you give this recipe a try!
